Groups

Guides of the ‘friends of Saint Paul’ will show you and your group around the St. Paul’s Church with enthusiasm. They will tell you about the history and artworks of the church and explain the highlights.

It’s your visit. So you can meet with the guide to dwell longer on works of art or themes that interest you and your group the most.
A standard guided visit of about an hour and a half leads you past the cloisters, the church and its art treasures, the treasury and the world-famous calvary garden. For a group of maximum 20 people the price is 85 euros. If your group is larger, we will split it over several guides. For each additional guide , 85 euros will be charged. The entrance fee to the church is not included, see ‘practical information’.

*New starting 1 April 2022*: a combined visit of approximately one and a half hours along church / crypt and archaeological site. Discover the Baroque highlights of the late-Gothic St. Paul’s Church and delve into the underground in search of the medieval monastery and its church. The unique and remarkably intact underground site of Saint Paul will amaze you! Because of the many stairs and level differences, this tour is only suitable for people with a good physical condition and for children from 10 years old. The price depends very much on the number of people in your group, contact us on sintpaulusvrienden@sintpaulusantwerpen.be

*New starting 1 April 2022*: an exclusive visit of approximately one hour to the crypt and the archaeological site. The guide will take you on a journey through time that will lead you back 750 years to the Middle Ages: the Antwerp of the year 1270! You start in the garden with the monastery ruins from the 17th century and end the tour in the chapter house of the 13th century cloister of the Dominican order! Because of the many stairs and level differences, this tour is only suitable for people with a good physical condition and for children from 10 years old. The price depends very much on the number of people in your group, contact us on sintpaulusvrienden@sintpaulusantwerpen.be

You can request a guided tour by sending an email to sintpaulusvrienden@sintpaulusantwerpen.be. We will then contact you to make further arrangements.

If desired, a guided tour can be combined with an organ demo by our organist Bart Rodyns. Please contact organist@sintpaulusantwerpen.be directly for appointments and conditions.

The ‘friends of Saint Paul’ also offer guided tours for the blind and visually impaired and for schools. Contact us with your wishes!

Tailor-Made Guided Tours

In addition to the various regular guided tours, we offer customized tours. This gives you the opportunity to ask for specific themes or to adapt the visit to a special occasion (anniversary, birthday, Mother’s Day, time of year, etc.).

If desired, a guided tour can be completed in an original manner with an organ demo provided by our organist Bart Rodyns. Please contact organist@sintpaulusantwerpen.be directly for appointments and conditions.

Plan such a visit in time, so that the ‘friends of Saint-Paul’ can prepare the tour well.
Send an email to sintpaulusvrienden@sintpaulusantwerpen.be. We will then discuss your wishes together and make a quotation.

Schools - All

Every year, the ‘friends of Saint Paul’ receive several school classes for an introduction to the St. Paul’s Church.

This visit can be part of various aspects of education, such as religion (Catholic and other religions), history (the church has its roots in the 13th century), art (a wealth of carvings, sculptures and paintings, mostly in baroque style), architecture (the building is late Gothic) and language (specific terms are used and explained).

The guided tours are adapted to the age of the students. We are happy to discuss in advance with the teachers how the visit will be approached and what accents we will put.

Send your request by e-mail to sintpaulusvrienden@sintpaulusantwerpen.be.

Schools - Higher Secondary Education

A scavenger hunt with worksheets is a fun way to introduce the church with all its art treasures and history to students of upper secondary education.

After a short introduction for the entire class group, with teacher, the students go free in pairs with the worksheets on a journey of discovery. Count for two hours for this. This search, including guidance of the class group and worksheets, costs 85 euros.

Send your request by e-mail to sintpaulusvrienden@sintpaulusantwerpen.be and mention your contact person: ‘Lieve Van Assche’.

Touch Tour for the blind and visually impaired

The ‘friends of Saint Paul’ offer an interesting tour for the blind and visually impaired. These visitors are received in small groups of a maximum of 20 participants (including chaperones) and are initiated into the secrets of Saint Paul.

The church council has given permission to touch a limited number of sculptures, paneling and other works of art for these tours, so that every participant in this tour can experience what the guides say.

Two guides are provided per group. The cost for a visit of about one and a half hours is 170€.

For a request, please contact sintpaulusvrienden@sintpaulusantwerpen.be
