Until March 31 closed for visit but with eucharist on Sundays in the crypt

Tourism February/March ’25

gepost op: 18 April 2022

Closed for visitors from February 3 to March 31

A place for Sunday Masses has been found in the crypt. This starts at 10:30 am. The entrance is through the gate on the corner of Veemarkt and Zwartzusterstraat. The opening around 10am and closing about 10 minutes after the start of the celebration doors. For security reasons, we cannot leave the church yard unattended. You walk through the church via the high choir to the crypt via the stairs. Those who are a little less fluent can go through the treasury and take the elevator. An employee will help you find your way.

During this period it is impossible to visit the church.

If the works go according to plan, we will open the church for tourist visits on Tuesday, April 1, and will follow:

St. Paul’s Church and its enthusiastic St. Paul’s friends are happy to serve you during the tourist season, every time from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Our church is very accessible for those who walk, cycle or take public transport. Cars can park further away. The site is also easily accessible for wheelchair users, even during restoration.

Tourist visit:

The church is open every day from April 1 to October 31, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. From November 1 to March 31, the church is open during weekends and the (Flemish) school holidays, always from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Entrance through the gate on the corner of Veemarkt and Zwartzusterstraat. Please note: changes in opening hours due to concerts, etc. are possible. So also check our calendar!

Sunday mass:

Every Sunday at 10:30 am.
Music is played during all Sunday masses in St. Paul’s Church. This could be organ accompaniment by our organist or a mass with soloists or choir. On seven Catholic holidays we offer an orchestral mass during the celebration of mass! Be sure to keep an eye on our agenda so you don’t miss it! Naturally, all Masses are free for everyone. Entrance through the gate on the corner of Veemarkt/Zwartzusterstraat.

Tickets for tourist visit:

5 euros for a standard ticket
3 euros per person for groups of 15 people or more and for students
Free for young people up to 18 years old, accompanying persons of wheelchair users, ICOM, Antwerp City Pass, the A-card and the museum pass.

Free for everyone during:

Religious ceremonies
Catholic holidays (see calendar)
The first Tuesday of the month (depending on the season)
Cultural events in which Saint Paul participates (see calendar)

Visit to the crypt and the archaeological site:

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Friends of Saint Paul offer guided tours for individual visitors in the crypt and the archaeological site. There is a fixed tour at 3 p.m., but depending on the number of guides at work, additional tours can be organized in an afternoon.
The number of participants per guided tour is limited to eight. Because of the stairs, it is only suitable for people in good physical condition. Participation is included in the entrance fee to the church.
Practical: to give every visitor an opportunity to participate, we do not work with advance reservations. At the ticket office, visitors can register on site for these tours before or after purchasing an entrance ticket.
If you wish to visit the crypt in a group, please contact sintpaulusvrienden@sintpaulusantwerpen.be
